What’s it like to be a new starter at Born + Raised?
Following what has been a crazy 15 months since Covid first hit, and some big changes in our organisation, we’re delighted that things are well and truly heading in the right direction. In fact, we’re on a bit of a recruitment drive. We’ve strengthened our team with four great new recruits in the last month alone and more will be coming very soon.
We caught up with our newbies to hear how they’ve found the experience of applying for and starting a new job at Born + Raised. Here’s what they had to say…
Nicole: Account Manager. 6 weeks on the job.
There’s a real care and passion for everything that Born + Raised do, which has been clear since I first submitted my application.
I was looking for an agency where I could face new challenges and grow with guidance and support from the team. Through the application process I found everyone I came in to contact with had a genuine love for the company itself, as well as a strong sense of camaraderie (and comedy!).
Since starting I’ve been welcomed wholeheartedly into the fold. The company ethos is built on no-ego collaboration, and it’s been easy to fall into the positive and driven attitude of the business.
Ben: Business Development Executive. 3 weeks on the job.
Ever since I came across Born + Raised, when searching for a job after graduating university, they stood out from the crowd! The culture of the business excited me, and I knew that this was the place that I wanted to begin my career.
Full of talented and friendly individuals, I was welcomed to the team with open arms. I’ve enjoyed learning about each team member’s role and how they contribute to the creative process. I can’t wait to get stuck in with new projects and challenges and I am looking forward to what the future has in store.
Sue: Senior Account Manager. 3 weeks on the job
Finding myself freelancing in a client services role at an agency I’d followed from a close distance for some years was unexpected and unlikely. And now it’s come to an end after three crazy and enjoyable months. I couldn’t be happier… I’m now a permanent member of the team!
Having been out of agency life since pre-Covid times, initially it was a bit of a shock getting to grips with working full-time from home: new software, new processes, all whilst trying to get to grips with everything ‘client’ in no time, but I was really impressed with the support I received.
I’d worked with a few of the Born + Raised team way back so I knew they were a great bunch of people. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by just how together the place feels – and the plethora of talent who are frankly, just lovely, personable people who work damn hard for themselves, each other and their clients.
It’s only when something actually adverse happens that you feel the real support behind you and before I signed on the dotted line as a permanent member of staff I had to take last-minute personal compassionate leave. My new colleagues stepped up big style with no fuss – even ones I’d not even met yet. I received compassion and support at all levels.
As a result I’ve been experiencing my formal induction three months after my first day freelancing and I’ve been delighted at the attention to detail – many much larger organisations would be envious of such inductions.
Fiona: Content Copywriter. 1 week on the job
Starting a new job is never easy – I’m not sure anyone likes being the ‘new person’ – but after just a few days at Born + Raised I already feel part of the team.
First impressions count for a lot and as soon as I walked through the door, I was made to feel welcome; Andy came to say hello straight away (which you wouldn’t get from all MD’s) and my introduction with Tamaris was thorough and she made me feel totally at ease.
The team as a whole have all been friendly and welcoming and I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone better. I’m already enjoying getting stuck into client projects and working alongside colleagues who clearly know their stuff and who I can learn from.
Sometimes you just get a good feeling about certain people or places, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have found that in my new role.
